What is Truecaller? 

Truecaller is the world’s largest verified mobile phone community; a global phone directory in an app! Our vision is to become the leading service where people can get in touch with other people and businesses from all over the world. Truecaller’s users, from all over the world, share their phone books, including numbers to pre-paid phones, and together create the world’s largest phone directory. 

What is a phone community? 

It is a community of people that use crowdsourcing as their way of helping each other identify numbers, and keep each other informed about spam numbers; no matter the country. 

Can everyone have the app? 

Truecaller is available for FREE in all countries and works all over the world. However, it may be difficult to use in certain countries that have government restrictions or filtering.

Founded in Stockholm, Sweden, 2009 Truecaller is owned by the founder duo and angels, Nami Zarringhalam (CSO) and Alan Mamedi (CEO).

Truecaller was created because our co-founders, who were attending The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), were frustrated when numbers from abroad would call, and they could not find a place to identify them. TrueCaller is a company of 40 people from 13 different nationalities (They are expanding very fast).

Platforms for Truecaller: Android, iPhone, BlackBerry (not os10), Symbian s60, Series 40, Windows Phone, and through our official website and Facebook app.

Truecaller Features 

Users are in charge of their own name, number and information about themselves.

Caller ID: Instantly know who calls you before you pick up the phone.

Reverse Number lookup: Type in a number into the search bar to receive the name connected with the number.

Name search: You can search for people by names that are within your social group by using contact requests.

Contact Requests: Through name search, you will not see the phone number. You must press ‘contact,’ and use Truecaller contact requests. You will then acknowledge how you know the person. An SMS will be sent to the person’s mobile. You can check if it has been accepted, pending or not reached in your ‘activities’ bar. This ensures a person the freedom to choose who contacts them through Truecaller via name search.

What is social circle? : They created a unique social graph that links people “you may
know” through people you already know in your contact book. Many of your contacts
might already be on Truecaller, so you can get in touch and find the right person by
searching through degrees of separation from your current contacts. When you want
to make new connections, simply type in the information you know, and our database
will search through friends and friends-of-friends to help you get in touch.

Personal profiles: You can choose your profile photo that you would like people to see
when they search for you.
